TJ Lane, Chardon High School Gunman, Recaptured After Escaping Prison! Escapees Allegedly ‘Scaled’ The Fence During Recreation Break?

TJ Lane, the American teenager who shot three students dead in Ohio is now back in police custody after escaping from his jail cell. The 19-year-old criminal was recaptured on Friday. The local police posted on their Twitter account, "We got him. One more to go."

TJ Lane has been given the three life sentences after he pleaded guilty to committing the murders in Chardon High School in February of 2012.

Apart from TJ Lane, two other inmates have actually escaped with him, including the 45-year-old convicted robber Clifford Opperud. However, the exact details of how the convicts were able to escape from the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution have not been provided. Still, local media was able to report that the escapees actually scaled a fence while they were on their recreation break.

At around 2:00 local time, the Lima Police Department confirmed that TJ Lane, whose full name is Thomas Michael Lane III, is now back in custody and that he has been returned to the prison. When he was found and recaptured, unconfirmed reports state that he was armed with a pitchfork.

The mother of one of the victims that TJ Lane killed back then said that she was very frightened as soon as she found out that he has escaped from prison. Dina Parmertor, the mother of the 16-year-old Daniel who was among TJ Lane's victims, said, "I'm disgusted that it happened. I'm extremely scared and panic-stricken. I can't believe it."

Clifford Opperud, who was serving his sentence for aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and burglary, was recaptured at around 4:20 local time, according to the local police.

TJ Lane pleaded guilty just last year to three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of felonious assault. He was reportedly armed with a .22-caliber pistol as he fired 10 shots at a group of students in the cafeteria of Chardon High School. Due to his onslaught, TJ Lane was able to kill Daniel Parmertor, the 17-year-old Russell King, and the 16-year-old Demetrius Hewlin.
