Elisabeth Moss will be starring in an upcoming Broadway revival of 'The Heidi Chronicles" by Wendy Wasserstein this spring. Elisabeth Moss has opted to return to the world of Broadway now that top-rated drama "Mad Men" of AMC is coming to a close.
It looks like Elisabeth Moss will be spending a lot of time in the 1960s era. Moreover, the Broadway theater for "The Heidi Chronicles" has not been announced yet, but the lead producer of the show, Jeffrey Richards, did mention that the opening date will most likely be in February of next year. Elisabeth Moss will be acting in this upcoming Broadway show alongside Tracee Chimo, Bryce Pinkham, and Jason Biggs.
Biggs, who presently stars in top-rated drama "Orange is the New Black", will be portraying the role of Scoop Rosenbaum, who happens to be one of Heidi's friends in the production. Biggs has experience in Broadway acting in 2002 in "The Graduate" and also in 1992 in "Conversations with My Father."
Pinkham, on the other hand, will be playing the role of another one of Heidi's friends named Peter Patrone. Pinkham was even nominated for a Tony Award this year for his skilled performance in "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder."
"The Heidi Chronicles" is actually about a woman named Heidi Holland. She will be looking back on her life back when she was still in her high school years, which was in the 1960s, through her career as an art historian into the 1980s. The play will be placing a little focus on the transition of the role of women from motherhood to marriage to career.
This play actually first opened on Broadway back in 1989. In fact, Wasserstein was the first female playwright to ever receive a Tony Award for Best Play for her work for "The Heidi Chronicles." Additionally, her play also got her a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It was Joan Allen who played the role of Heidi in the original production, and Elisabeth Moss' take will be the first revival.
Elisabeth Moss actually debuted in the world of Broadway in "Speed the Plow" by David Mamet, with Jeremy Piven and Raul Esparza.
