Schenectady High School Student Starts Petition To Include His Pet Cat In His Official Senior Portrait! Student Aims To Reach 500 Signatures But Now Has 721!

Schenectady High School student, Draven Rodriguez, is just one of the normal high school students in upstate New York who are merely hoping to make his dreams come true. In his case, it has always been his dream to include his pet cat in his senior portrait.

The Schenectady High School administration did agree to include his pet cat in the yearbook, but did not allow the picture to be used as his official senior portrait, as reported by a local affiliate of CBS. Because of the school administration's refusal, he then opted to start a petition as his "pre-emptive strike." This normal Schenectady High School student is hoping to have enough supporters to back him so that the Schenectady High School administrative office simply cannot say "No" to his request.

His main goal was to reach 500 signatures by the 15th of September. However, fortunately for him and for the cat lovers enrolled in Schenectady High School, as of the 11th of September, he has already garnered 721 signatures.

Rodriguez, the Schenectady High School senior student who is responsible for this issue, took to iPetitions so that he could get the support he needs to sway the school's decision on allowing him to have a one-of-a-kind senior portrait in the Schenectady High School's 2015 yearbook.

The photo was actually taken by Vincent Giordano from Trinacria Photography. The photo that Rodriguez wants to use as his official senior portrait showcases him in an expensive-looking suit and holding his pet cat, Mr. Bigglesworth, close to his chest. As a background, blue and pink lasers crisscross over the image, and a massive superimposed shot of Mr. Bigglesworth appears in the photo's upper right-hand corner.

Rodriguez wrote in his petition for the Schenectady High School, "This is my photo that should be going into the yearbook. But, we know how finicky the school systems can be. I'm hoping that, with enough signatures, my school simply can't turn this down."
