Brendan Tevlin's murder is not just any ordinary crime that should be forgotten after the perpetrator had been arrested. In fact, it should serve as a reminder or evidence even to every American citizen that "domestic terrorism" has already penetrated the country, this is according to radio program host Todd Pettengill in his eight-minute discussion of the case.
Pettengill, host of WPLJ's "The Todd Show," reportedly took the time Wednesday morning, to question why the Brendan Tevlin murder case has not received more attention both from the government and the media despite the fact that the alleged killer had admitted to killing Tevlin as part of a "bloody crusade" to exact vengeance for U.S. Military actions in the Middle East.
"It was in fact an act of jihad, perpetrated by a fellow American who sympathized more with those who want to annihilate us than with his own country and its people," the host said of Brendan Tevlin's murder.
Ali Muhammad Brown, 29, was charged by the Essex County authorities with the killing of 19-year-old Tevlin in a West Orange intersection on June 25, CBS6 has learned. He is said to have confessed to Brendan Tevlin's murder along with three others, since he was taken into custody July 18. Brown reportedly claimed they were all implemented as retribution for innocent lives taken in Syria, Iraq and other Islamic countries.
The radio host also went to criticize President Obama and U.S. Attorney General Holder for not citing the Brendan Tevlin murder case in recent addresses and downplaying the degree of danger that the radical Islamists currently residing in America could pose, NJ.com reported.
He then berated the media for not bringing the Brendan Tevlin murder case into the national stage unlike the Ferguson shooting which had been in headlines for weeks.
"This should be talked about and written about, and the American people should know," Pettengil insisted, while adding that listeners should acknowledge the terror threats the U.S. faces both overseas and within the country. "The bottom line is this, domestic terrorism is already here, and we need to talk about it."
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office initially characterized that the victim in the Brendan Tevlin murder was "targeted" before being shot down. Prosecutors later labeled the case a robbery saying Brown and companions Jeremy Villagran and Eric Williams had randomly target Tevlin before he was shot eight times in his car.
Brown is being held on a $5 million bail, and could face death penalty if tried in Washington, according to FOX News.
