Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly pondering on the possibility of leaving Real Madrid to re-join Manchester United, the team that launched him as one of the best footballers in the world.
Ronaldo, who was hailed the best football player in the world by winning his second career Ballon d'Or award, is reportedly frustrated with the way Real Madrid bosses dispatched some of his closest companions in the team like Angel di Maria and Xavi Alonso, who were transferred to Manchester United and Bayern Munich respectively.
Despite winning La Decima last May, Ronaldo seems to be in a crossroad whether to continue his career with Los Blancos or don the red shirt once again as a member of the Red Devils.
"I have strong opinions but I can't always say what I think. Otherwise it would be on the front page and I don't want that," Ronaldo said of the sale of Di Maria and Alonso. "But if it was up to me, I wouldn't have done so."
The 29-year old Ronaldo also didn't rule out the possibility of playing alongside Wayne Rooney and before his loyal fans at Old Trafford in the future.
"I was 18 years old (when I signed), I win everything there, the people treat me like a God there so I appreciate that and the future, nobody knows," said Ronaldo, who scored 84 goals over 196 games from 2003 to 2009.
According to Caught offside, Manchester United's move to get Ronaldo from Real Madrid would likely cost the ball club a whopping £117 million.
The Red Devils have already spent too much money to bring striker Radamel Falcao, Marco Rojo and Angel di Maria. However, Man United manager Louis Van Gaal is determined to make all necessary moves to be in position in acquiring the goal-machine either in January or next summer.
"Man United are readying a £55m bid to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo and in view of the club's £150m outlay on summer additions boss Louis van Gaal will be encouraged to trim his expansive squad in order to help fund the move for the Real Madrid star," according to Caught Offside.
