Syrian air force recently launched an air strike targeting the militant group, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) amid the ongoing tension between the group and the government.
Recent reports claim that the government led by President Bashar al-Assad has increased airstrike's against the militant group which constantly hit the headlines apart from their beheading activities. The militant group has already gained control over the city of Raqqa after they have overcome the military force of the government last month while they were also able to establish an administrative system and even made it as their headquarter, a BBC report says. Since then, President Assad's forces have continually launched military attacks over the area.
The recent attack of the Syrian air force which took place on Saturday has reportedly killed several people wherein many were said to be civilians. There are those who said that there were 18 people killed while others suggest that there were 25, but no exact confirmation about the number has been revealed since fine details about the incident are being held confidential. Moreover, New York Times said that the warplanes struck down a crowded bakery in the ISIS-controlled territory.
Although the said attack launched by the Syrian air force has killed several militants, BBC reports that the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also said that there were a number of civilians included in the list of people who died from the strike. The ISIS militants have already seized control of the city and they've been already running a system and were even able to gain control of the shops including the said bakery.
It is not just actually the Syrian government that's considering launching air strikes against the rebel group. US President Barack Obama is still weighing things, whether to launch an airstrike in the country following his approval of the surveillance flights in the area while the US air force has constantly bombarded the militants in Iraq. ISIS has recently hit headlines after a video of them beheading an American journalist went viral in the social media.
