Stolen Thunderbird Found: 1964 Blue Ford Vehicle Finally Recovered in Good Condition after 33 Years [WATCH VIDEO]

Stolen Thunderbird found- More than three decades after it was taken away from him, a Sacramento man probably never expected for his 1964 Ford Thunderbird to finally find its way back to his driveway.

"Wow. Thirty-three years, huh?" owner Gary Chartrand, said to CBS Sacramento of his stolen Thunderbird found. "Man, look how clean that is. Wahoo!"

With sweaty palms, knotty stomach, and stuttering, Chartrand excitedly waited for his beloved car to be delivered to him Tuesday.

"Beautiful. Just a few bumps and bruises, but, boy, not much has changed," he said when his stolen Thunderbird found finally arrived.

Chartrand's blue car was taken away from him one night in 1981 while he was bartending at Fanny Ann's Saloon in Old Sacramento. It was just almost a year after he purchased the vehicle for $1,600 as a gift to himself when his 10-year marriage ended in divorce.

Now, 33 years after, Chartrand got a call from authorities recently telling him that his stolen Thunderbird has been found.

"I don't even remember how to get into the glove box," he said.

The stolen Thunderbird was found 750 miles north of Sacramento in Washington, surprisingly in good condition, FOX News has learned.

Chartrand believes whoever "had it was getting it registered or ready for the road." It could possibly be a classic admirer as well since the vehicle was kept in good shape.

But as for who exactly stole it and where it had been all these years, no one yet knows.

The case is said to be so old that it took cops so long to track Chartrand down while they are still trying to find the initial police report from when the car was recovered.

Nonetheless, Chartrand is just glad to be reunited with his long lost car.

"It's just nice to have it back," Chartrand said of his stolen Thunderbird found decades after.
