Hawaii volcano eruption brings more fear to the residents of the community close to the area while Mayor Billy Kenoi declared a state of emergency on Thursday.
People of the Kaohe Homesteads subdivision are becoming more nervous as the lava continues to flow with a possibility of reaching the people's homes. If the lava from Kilauea flows in the same path, Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said that it could reach the populated area in five to seven days. With that huge possibility, residents will be more likely evacuated from their homes in order to ensure their safety.
Authorities have already raised the alert level in Hawaii's Big Island since it is not just the damage of the Kilauea volcano's eruption that the residents are currently facing. Before the lava from Kilauea could even escape from the grounds of the Earth, residents in the area have been already struck by a tropical storm, Iselle. Previous reports said that Iselle brought heavy rains and strong wind which resulted to the loss of power in most areas and also struck down trees.
With the alert level raised in the said part of Hawaii, authorities will be able to restrict residents from the dangerous areas affected by the volcano's eruption. Although no formal order has been yet confirmed by the government, it is believed that the increase of the alert level could actually help authorities evacuate the residents safely. Experts are also constantly observing the flow of the lava and are actually having a difficult time predicting the route of the lava flow.
The lava flow brought by Kilauea volcano's eruption is hard to predict since the topography plays a major factor. With that, authorities have also warned other communities in Hawaii Island to prepare for the said catastrophe since the direction of the flow could instantly change. Kilauea is said to be active and has been constantly erupting since 1983.
