"My world and the world at large seems terribly off," she added to her tweet Friday.

"She loved fiercely and was fiercely loved," she posted on her Facebook page, while sharing that her mom lived from 1923 to 2014.

It was not revealed how Katie Couric's mother dies, but the mom and daughter had been especially close since the television host lost her father John M. Couric, to Parkinson's disease in 2011 at the age of 90.

Just two months before Katie Couric's mother dies, Elinor had been an important figure in her daughter's Hamptons nuptial when she tied the knot with financier John Molner.
"It was so special that my mom could make the trip. She's 91. It was very moving," the TV anchor told People at the time. "I feel so lucky to to be able to have her here."

Couric, who had occasionally shared on social media beautiful family photos and videos featuring her mom, only have praises for old woman in an interview with Woman's Day in 2012.

"Mom sacrificed for us her whole life, and we want to help her age with dignity, as gracefully as possible," she told the publication then.
