2 Bodies in River - A 23-year-old bound male injured with multiple stab wounds prompted the discovery of two dead men dumped in the Schuylkill River early Wednesday.
The dead victims of the 2 bodies in river case were not yet identified. An autopsy is reportedly scheduled to determine the time and cause of death.
According to several 2 bodies in river reports, the Philadelphia Police responded 4 a.m. to the waterway along Kelly Drive near Hunting Park Avenue, following a 911 call reporting a soaking wet bound and blindfolded man in his underwear, screaming along the roadway.
Thanh Voong, as identified by NBC10 sources in the 2 bodies in river case, is said to have suffered numerous stab wounds to his legs and stomach. Both his arms and legs were partly bound while a duct tape was fixed to his face. The assault left him in critical condition and he was rushed to the Hahnemann University Hospital, where he underwent surgery for seven stab wounds.
He told authorities that around five men abducted him near 62nd Street and Woodland Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia, and threw him into the back of a van about 1 a.m.
"While in the back of the van he was blindfolded, he was stabbed numerous times, he was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said of the injured victim in the 2 bodies in river case. "He says that while in the back of the van he then realized that there were two other males in the back of the van... they were duct taped and they appeared to have been stabbed numerous times."
Cops were alerted and a search for 2 bodies in river was launched. Two remains of men with slit throats bound with duct tape and weighted down with improvised anchor a were eventually recovered by police dive teams, NBC Philadelphia reported.
It is now believed that the 2 bodies in river abduction and assault was drug-related, and that robbery was the main motive for the attack, homicide investigator with Philadelphia police Capt. James Clark, stated at press conference Wednesday afternoon, NY Daily News has learned.
"There is a drug nexus at the root of this," Clark reportedly said.
Voong, the injured survivor in the 2 bodies in river case, was reportedly not sure whether the two males with him in the car were alive or dead.
Investigation is still going on and no arrests have been made s far in the 2 bodies in river case.
