5 killed in New York - A family of three kids and two adults died in a blazing Long Island crash Saturday night, after their car swerved off the roadway, smacked into a tree and burst into flames, officials said.
According to several 5 killed in New York reports, 37-year-old Myriam Lebrun was driving a 1998 Honda Accord westbound on the Southern State Parkway, when the vehicle deviated off the highway between exits 38 and 39 just before 11 p.m.
The family of 5 killed in New York was heading home to Brooklyn following a family visit in Suffolk County, the New York State Police said.
Myriam, her three children, Marcus Jeanty, 14, Marcel Jeanty, 9, and Kayle Jeanty, 8, and the kids' grandmother Moise Yolande, 68, all died at the scene, Daily Mail has learned.
The Accord which erupted in flames was left in pieces after the tragic 5 killed in New York accident.
"There was a heavy fire condition to the front of the vehicle and (to) the passenger's side," North Babylon's First Assistant Fire Chief, Robert Cabano, reportedly told The New York Daily News.
Cabano, who was among the first to arrive on the 5 killed in New York scene, said fire pouring out of the vehicle reached 10 to 15 feet in the air.
"It's absolutely tragic," he added. "It' just tragic. It's horrible."
The blaze took 15 minutes to be put out by firefighters, and it wasn't known whether the family of 5 killed in New York crash all died on impact.
Authorities were still investigating Sunday, what really caused the car to veer off the parkway.
Meanwhile, witnesses of the 5 killed in New York accident told CBS 2's Janelle Burrell that some of the victims were pulled out of the vehicle.
The overwhelming flames were said to be the reason why other bodies were not removed from the 5 killed in New York car.
