Patricia Yurena Rodriguez, Former Miss Spain, Reveals Being Lesbian; Rodriguez Posted Photo of GF on Instagram [PHOTOS]

Patricia Yurena Rodriguez, former winner of the Miss Spain pageant, is the first national beauty queen to ever publicly reveal that she is in a lesbian relationship. In the recent weeks, Patricia Yurena Rodriguez confirmed through her Instagram feed that she has been dating the famous Spanish DJ Vanesa Cortes.

Moreover, in an Instagram post that the former Miss Spain submitted online, she likened the two of them, herself and Cortes, to Romeo and Juliet.

Patricia Yurena Rodriguez held the title of Miss Spain back in 2008 and 2013. She has never been shy in telling others about her lesbian sexuality, even in her interviews with different media outlets. She told Spanish newspaper La Opinion de Tenerife, as NBC News has translated, "I don't regret what I did because I am thrilled with what is happening to me now."

Additionally, in an interview with La Nacion, which is an Argentinian daily newspaper, Patricia Yurena Rodriguez, former Miss Spain, added that both she and Cortes have actually known each other for a little over a year. Plus, she also admitted that they have been having a more formal type of relationship for three months now.

Moreover, the former Miss Spain winner also revealed that she was "surprised" when her revelation that she was a lesbian came out as news. However, she did mention that she completely understood the situation, given that it was the first time for a national beauty queen, such as herself, to come out about their sexuality. She further noted, "There will be many others."

In 2013, Patricia Yurena Rodriguez won as the runner-up at that year's Miss Universe pageant, which was held in Russia. Ironically, just months earlier, the lawmakers of Russia have actually banned "homosexual propaganda."

In another recent post that Patricia Yurena Rodriguez did on her Instagram account, the former Miss Spain thanked her fans for all of their support. She wrote, "Thank you for all your comments. I decided to go public organically and impulsively. I appreciate your support and, even more, that you are happy for me. Thank you!"
