Burning Man Closed for Two Days; Festival Goers Left Stranded in Nevada Area!

Burning Man closed for two whole days because of heavy rainfall. It would seem that the weather gods felt relatively vindictive as they chose to smite the hippies who were more than happy to head for the Nevada desert. Sadly, however, with the Burning Man closed for two days, festival attendees were left stranded in and around Black Rock City.

Before the storms hit the city, traffic was already far too heavy, further delaying the onslaught of the area's tourists, techies, budding pyro-technicians, magic mushroom enthusiasts, artists, and campers. They all traveled to the Burning Man in the hopes of spending a couple of days off the grid. It was very bad news for them when they found out that the Burning Man closed for a couple of days as well.

Moreover, according to the official Facebook page of the Burning Man, all roads heading to that specific area have now been rendered "undriveable."

However, some burners have already made their way inside the Burning Man premises. Perhaps they arrived before the Burning Man closed. Today was actually supposed to be the beginning of a week-long event within the area. Still, because of the insane weather, local officials had to advise people to stay inside their camps while the level of water and mud continues to rise.

Organizers of the Burning Man have expected the rain to lay off and the playa sands to start to dry out by the middle of Tuesday. It is only by then will the festival's participants be allowed to enter the event again. Until then, it would seem that some festival goers have resorted to other forms of entertainment to avoid getting bored, such as having orgies at Pyramid Lake, or so says the Reno Gazette-Journal.

As multiple online reports have recently pointed out, various regions of California are presently experiencing dire drought conditions. However, Burning Man's Black Rock City's usually arid region in Nevada is flooding.
