Ronald Stan found - A man from Middlesex County, Ont., who was declared dead by courts after he went missing for years, has been found assuming a different identity in another country, the Huffington Post reported.
According to several Ronald Stan found reports, the then 32-year-old Canadian who was immediately reported missing following a 1977 barn fire near London, Ont., has been discovered by the Ontario Provincial Police to be living under the name of Jeff Walton in the United States. Stan is now 69 years old.
"I can't speak to his motives," Const. Laurie Houghton said of the Ronald Stan found case with the Middlesex County OPP. "We were able to connect the dots."
Authorities with the Middlesex County detachment and the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office launched an investigation following an early-morning barn blaze on Sept. 29, 1977 in the former Township of East Williams.
Ronald Stan who was found recently, was announced dead by the courts in 1986, almost nine years after he vanished.
In July this year, during a routine audit of the case, the investigation was reopened by the Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit and cops said Ronald Stan was found alive and living Oklahoma, The Star Canada has learned.
"There's a lot that's available to us now for investigative tools that wasn't available to us back in 1977. As a result, we were able to connect the dots, essentially, and lead us to the state of Oaklahoma," Houghton said.
According to Houghton, the case is now closed and no charges are being laid as there is "no basis for any charges under the Criminal Code Canada."
Cops have reportedly notified American officials regarding the investigation results.
The affected families were also informed about the Ronald Stan found news, and they are said to be currently "dealing: with the report.
As to how Ronald Stan found in U.S. ended up in another country, Houston had no further details.
