Navy Scandal 34: Sailors Dismissed after Massive Cheating Ring at Nuclear Power Training Site is Uncovered

Navy Scandal 34 - A massive cheating ring that has operated secretly for the past seven years at a nuclear power training site has been finally uncovered leading to the dismissal of 34 sailors from the Navy and the criminal investigation of 10 others, the Associated Press reported.

With the discovery of the infamy called the Navy Scandal 34 comes that revelation that the number of the liable individuals are greater than was known in February when the Navy announced it had discovered defrauding on qualification exams by an approximated 20 to 30 sailors pursuing to be certified as instructors at the nuclear training unit at Charleston, South Carolina. Students at the said facility are reportedly trained in nuclear reactor operations to ready them for operation on any of the Navy's 83 nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers.

According to reports regarding the Navy Scandal 34, the discovery of sailors cheating on a nuclear qualification exams at the Goose Creek nuclear training center near Charleston, South Carolina, has prompted the investigation. The students taking the exam were getting ready for service in nuclear reactors onboard Navy nuclear powered aircraft carriers and submarines. The Navy however, maintained that none of the students or instructors implicated in the scandal were really involved in handling nuclear weapons, the Examiner has learned.

A total of 78 enlisted sailors were reportedly involved in the Navy Scandal 34, a rather small group that managed to conceal the defrauding scheme for a number of years. Thirty two other sailors who were originally implicated have also been exonerated.

The Goose Creek cheating infamy came to the authorities' attention after the Malmstrom Air Force Base exam-cheating scandal was discovered in January. Malmstrom is said to be among the Air Force base trio that controls and operates intercontinental ballistic nuclear weapons from a huge Montana base. Only less than a hundred AIrmen were guilty in the Air Force scandal.

Ten sailors are still under investigation in the Navy Scandal 34, according to the Criminal Investigative Service. Those individuals implicated in the cheating scandal are both sailors who participated by providing test answers beforehand and the sailors who actually cheated on the test.
