Freehold NJ Accident: Three-Vehicle Crash Kills 3, Leaves 1 Critically Fighting for Life [WATCH VIDEO]

Freehold NJ Accident - A three-vehicle crash at a New Jersey road killed three individuals and left another one critically injured Tuesday afternoon around 3:47 p.m., NBC New York has learned.

Multiple Freehold NJ accident reports stated that a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta was heading south on the Kosloki Road overpass at Route 33 Business in Freehold, when it unexpectedly skidded into the north lane and slammed head-on into a 2006 Honda Pilot.

Possibly due to the collision impact, the Pilot went airborne and thumped on top of a 1994 Toyota Camry, Monmouth County first assistant prosecutor Marc LeMieux, said.

"The one car was half gone - there was nothing left to it; except from the windshield back," witness Kristi Munis, who saw the impact from her home, told CBS New York.

According to MeMieux, the 19-year-old man driving the Jetta, his 20-year-old woman companion in the vehicle, and the 50-year-old man carrying the Pilot all died in the crash dubbed as the freehold NJ accident.

"You have to pay attention every second you're behind that vehicle, because that vehicle can become a weapon at any point in time if you do not pay attention," LeMieux reportedly said in a news briefing on Aug. 19.

On the other hand, the 25-year-old driver of the Camry is said to be in "extremely critical condition."

It was not yet determined why the Jetta swerved into the opposite lane on Kosloki Road, and investigators are still trying to figure out how fast the vehicles were going in the freehold NJ accident.

Locals said that drivers often speed up dangerously along the road where the incident happened.

"It opens up, and right here, everybody starts to speed up again, and they're all hitting 55 after doing, like, 45 right down the street," Chris, a school bus driver in the area, said.

A woman who resides in the area also reportedly told NBC New York that officials need to put up dividers to avoid such tragedy as the freehold NJ accident from happening again.
