Two boys planned the shooting that happened at a suburban high school in Los Angeles. The local police said on Tuesday that the two students have actually planned to target three members of the school staff and even kill as many people as they can. However, they only go to this finding when they acted on a tip that was revealed to them.
The officials of the school learned of this plot on Thursday and quickly notified the detectives who were assigned to the case. As soon as they found out, the detectives immediately observed the two boys, one was 16 years old and the other was 17 years old. The detectives started to monitor their online activity, as stated by Arthur Miller, the Chief of the South Pasadena Police.
The duo did not discuss an exact date to make the attack, nor did they say anything about the weapons that they planned to use, but they did mention the names of the three school staffers that they intended to target. Plus, Miller also mentioned that the two boys have also threatened to kill students at random.
Taking a look at the search history of the two boys that planned shooting, the detectives also came across their research for hand guns, explosives, automatic firearms, knives, and even tactical techniques. Miller said, "Three or four days' worth of surveillance on the Internet indicated that they had a very real threat. They had a plan in mind that they were going to execute."
The names of the two boys that planned shooting have not been revealed to the media because of their ages. However, the local police did expect to present their case to the district attorney during the day.
Miller mentioned that the police got to interview the boys and were surprised to realize precisely how cold-hearted their plot really was. Miller did not provide any specifics and the officials over at the South Pasadena High School made it a point not to disclose any details of the initial tip.
Classes have been set to resume on Thursday for this quaint San Gabriel Valley suburb that has been quite known for its quality schools and its involvement in the community. Because of the case of the two boys that planned the shooting, the local police have now planned to have a much larger presence than usual on the campus for the 1st day of classes.
