4.2 Earthquake Oklahoma - An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 jostled areas a few mile southwest of Guthrie, Oklahoma, at around 7:41 a.m. CT (8:41 a.m. ET) Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reportedly stated.
According to news about the tremor dubbed as the 4.2 Earthquake Oklahoma, the USGS has received more than 160 accounts of trembling across Kansas and Oklahoma. The shaking was reportedly felt by public in Lawton and Comanche County and also in the Duncan, Oklahoma area.
The USGS reported that the quake's epicenter was approximately a half mile east of S Eastern Road and a mile north of W Seward Road, north of the Liberty Lake area, News OK has learned.
Upheavals such as the 4.2 Earthquake Oklahoma, have been common in the state, Texomashomepage.com reported. It has also been revealed that Oklahoma had even exceeded the number of temblors in California.
Furthermore, KTLA 5 noted that as much as nine earthquakes, including two with magnitudes 3.8 were recorded just last Sunday.
"When they first started happening they were a big deal," Tulsa World reporter Althea Peterson said.
"People are starting to see foundational damage, cracking around door frames," Peterson told CNN on Tuesday. "It's nothing I ever expected in Oklahoma."
Meanwhile, Guthrie resident Jim Garling, who lives between Liberty Lake and Guthrie Lake areas, said he and his family were sitting on their front porch when they felt what they believe was one of the stronger rambling.
"The hummingbird feeder on the front porch was moving and a swing seat on the porch was rattling pretty good. We guessed it would have been higher than 4.2."
Jim said the shaking lasted for quite a while and eventually stopped.
Along with 4.2 earthquake Oklahoma report, the USGS stated that damage and injury usually occur with quakes registering a magnitude of 4.0 and higher.
