Eating healthier is a goal that everyone seems to have, but it seems to be so difficult to follow. Why? Well, probably because nothing tastes as good as some piping hot French fries from McDonalds, or an ice cold Slurpee from 7/11. As someone who doesn't enjoy Kale and gluten free bread or other fad health foods, right now it can get kind of frustrating trying to eat better. Here are some realistic foods to try eating instead of a big bag of potato chips or a box of doughnuts.
.) Pickles: Pickles are an excellent food to help you fulfill your craving for something salty. Pickles offer all the saltiness you love with zero calories; much better than potato chips. Next time you take a trip down to Jimmy Johns for lunch try a pickle on the side of your sandwich instead of a bag of chips.
.) Watermelon: A big giant bowl of watermelon is perfect for your craving of something sweet. Watermelon is a fruit that is almost completely water, which makes it both a low calorie side dish as well as a hydrating one. Watermelon is so sweet is makes for the perfect desert instead of that bag of gummy bears.
.) Wheat Bread: Did you know eating a sandwich on white bread is worse for your teeth than a chocolate bar? There is so much sugar in white bread; this is one of the easiest ways to shed some weight and prevent cavities. Also, try wheat pasta instead. When you add your favorite sauce you can barely notice a different taste.
.) Bananas: Bananas don't look like much, but they are chalked full of great things like potassium. Potassium helps prevent muscle cramps, perfect for if you're training for a sport or just trying to have a more comfortable work out. Bananas are also so filling, a perfect breakfast option for on-the-go people.
.) Peanut Butter: Peanut butter offers the perfect kind of fat that your body needs. Peanut butter is perfect for breakfast toast, along with some slices of banana. Peanut butter is also a great addition for smoothies, both tasty and healthy. A peanut butter sandwich is so much healthier than any other sandwich with mayonnaise.
