SAVANNAH GUTHRIE Talks Mommy Experience, Husband Crying and Baby Daughter’s Name

Savannah Guthrie is one proud mama! On Friday, Aug. 15, the "Today" show co-host shared new snaps of her baby daughter during the morning program, and also called in to talk about to her NBC colleagues about her few-days experience as a mom.

"I feel like life just started. I just can't get over the joy she brings - it's beyond words," 42-year-old Guthrie told Matt Lauer and Natalie Morales. "The moment she was born I cried - I look at her so proud and I can't stop thanking God."

Savannah Guthrie and her husband Michael Feldman announced the birth of their first child Aug. 14. "My 3am wake up call sounds a lot different now. Sweeter..." her cryptic tweet read at the time.

Feldman also retweeted Savannah's post, adding: "This sound is like music to my ears."

According to her, she and her husband had been crying spontaneously, and "he doesn't even have the hormones to blame."
"I'm a big ball of mush," Savannah Guthrie admitted Friday. "I couldn't sleep because I was so excited so they actually had to give me a little sleeping medicine." Fortunately, she had managed to doze off Thursday night. "I got a good night's sleep for the first time," she added. "Vale slept like the little angel baby she is."

Baby Vale came into the world in the early hours of Wednesday at a New York City hospital. The adorable baby, who according to Today "has blue eyes, a little bit of blondish hair and the chubbiest cheeks you've ever seen," weighed 8.5 lbs and measured 19.5 inches.

When asked how she and her husband came up with their daughter's name, Savannah Guthrie said: "Today viewers had me convinced that we were having a boy, so when it was a girl, it was a shock. We had a few names on the girl list but we had not settled on it. Vale had always been on our list of names we had liked. We thought it was pretty, unique but not kooky or weird...I don't want to name names but there are some weird ones out there."
