Jay Adams Heart Attack- Iconic skateboarder Jay Adams who was portrayed by Emile Hirsch in "Lords of Dogtown," has passed away at the age of 53.
Jay Adams' heart attack has caused the skateboarder's death late Thursday, in Mexico.
"I just received the terribly sad news that Jay Adams passed away last night due to a massive heart attack, send your love," former Z-Boys member Stacy Peralta, announced on Instagram.
The sports star had been on a long surfing holiday with his wife, and the two had been in the place for 3 months, TMZ reported.
t was reportedly the first time in 20 years that skateboarder Adams was allowed to leave U.S. as he had been in an out of jail since the '80s on various felony drug charges.
Jay Adams' heart attack had been a shock to to his family because according to them, the legendary skateboarder had been sober for months already, and didn't even have any history of heart problems.
The skateboarding community that includes high profile figures, pros and celebs, have been taking to social media to pay tribute to Jay Adams and remember his contribution to sport and how he touched their lives, according to Bleacher Report.
"Goodbye Jay Adams. Thank you for inspiring us to get vertical and to keep pushing the limits of what is possible," Tony Hawk, the most influential skateboarder in America since Adams, said.
"Damn. Just re-watched Dogtown & Zboys last week. Jay Adams was the genuine article. #RIPJayAdams," Colin Hanks tweeted.
"R.I.P Jay Adams #Zboys #dogtown," Victoria's Secret Angel and wife of Maroon Five frontman Adam Levine, Behati Prinsloo wrote.
Emile Hirsch also tweeted, "We lost a true wild man with the passing of Jayboy. Jay Adams was a legend who will be missed."
Meanwhile, legendary X-Games skater Andy MacDonald, had a simple yet meaningful tribute to to the skateboarder. "Jay Adams. Respect," he wrote
Jay Adams was said to be one of the founding members of the 1970s skating group Z-Boys, that helped revolutionized the sport, incorporating several strategies that are still practiced today, such as a surfer mentality on the cement. Their historic sports career was immortalized in the 2005 flick "Lords of Dogtown."
