Dan Le Batard has been punished with a two-day suspension for funding a "spiteful" billboard in the city that said, "You're welcome LeBron. Love, Miami."
According to USA Today, ESPN announced in their official statement about the matter on Thursday, "Dan Le Batard will be off the air for two days, returning Monday. His recent stunt does not reflect ESPN's standards and brand. Additionally, we were not made aware of his plans in advance."
Dan Le Batard is a columnist in the Miami Herald and is also a television and radio host of the ESPN.
James actually decided to leave Cleveland after the 2009-2010 seasons. He announced then that he would be joining the Miami Heat team so that he could pursue his 1st NBA title with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. He made his announcement in the heavily criticized TV special that was termed as "The Decision."
James got to win back-to-back titles in Miami as his team made it to the NBA Finals in each of his four-year stay in South Beach.
However, he decided to return to being a free agent once again as Miami Heat lost to the San Antonio Spurs last season. What makes this new decision of his different from the previous one is that he did this recent one relatively quietly. LeBron James, the gist of Dan Le Batard's billboard joke, announced his decision that he would be returning to Cleveland to help his hometown win a title.
According to Dan Le Batard, he only executed the stunt that he got punished for in response to James' letter in Sports Illustrated. In this controversial letter, James announced that he was returning to Cleveland, but there was no word about his gratitude to his fans in Miami.
As reported by USA Today, Dan Le Batard recently said on the radio show, "It's just fun anarchy. All meant in fun."
