Crocodile attacks shark in Australia on Tuesday, and the 80-year-old crocodile named Brutus seemed to have won. The occurrence of this insanely old crocodile attacks shark may be considered one of the oddest things to see nowadays, but it is legit.
According to the AFP, the Northern Territory News described the crocodile attacks shark battle as "Jaws v Claws".
The elderly 80-year-old crocodile attacks shark and he does not hesitate to go head-to-head with the large fish on an Australian riverbank.
The 80-year-old croc is infamous in that Adelaide River near the Kakadu National Park in Australia, and the scene where he was making a meal out of the bull shark on a riverbank was a real headturner.
As the crocodile attacks shark battle was going on, a boatload of tourists watched in awe, reports NBC News. The tourists have been left stunned by the two animals as no one on the boat has seen nothing quite like it.
The passengers on the boat were on a crocodile-spotting tour in the Northern Territory, according to NBC News. Well they certainly got more than they bargained for when they spotted the crocodile attacks shark incident.
Earlier that day, the group had been watching crocodiles jumping for a piece of buffalo meat on a stick, but the croc nicknamed "Brutus" by locals proved the most impressive. "Brutus" leapt out of the water to eat a piece of buffalo meat they held out on a pole.
The crocodile is estimated to be 80-years-old and 18 feet long. While according to the AFP, he's missing a front leg and most of his teeth, he does not think twice of the assault and the crocodile attacks shark unhesitatingly.
Apparently, "Brutus" is already well known by tourists visiting the Adelaide River where he resides.
The group saw crocodile attacks shark as they were returning to the jetty. "Brutus" was seen clasping onto the shark.
According to reports, a tourist by the name of Andrew Paice was on the cruise on the Adelaide River with his partner and seven-year-old daughter on Tuesday. They saw the incident of crocodile attacks shark when they noticed something unusual.
According to WTKR, on Wednesday, Paice told AFP from Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of the incident of crocodile attacks shark.
Paice said, 'It was on the way back to the jetty, we went past Brutus again, he was up on the bank.'
He added, 'As we were going past, we noticed that there was a fin. We thought it was a barramundi (fish) or something...And the guide took the boat in for a closer look and lo' and behold... it was a shark.'
Also an avid photographer, Paice told NBC News, 'I supposed you're a bit awe-struck really.'
The AFP said that the Northern Territory News reported Brutus had won. But after the crocodile attacks shark, Paice said he isn't sure of the outcome. He added that the shark was still alive as they went away from the scene of battle.
Paice said, 'When we went past the first time the croc was lying there with the shark in its mouth. When we pulled the boat in closer it slid back into the water. And when the shark, or the mouth of the croc, hit the water, the shark started to thrash around...So it was certainly still alive.'
He told AFP of the crocodile attacks shark incident, 'We couldn't see any blood anywhere...It may have got away; it may have got eaten - we don't know. He didn't put that display on for us unfortunately.'
According to the AFP, there have been speculations that the crocodile attacks shark incident came as revenge for "Brutus" after he allegedly lost his limb to another shark living in nearby waters.
Paice explained, 'But from listening to other people, it was probably more likely a big crocodile (which took his front leg). But who knows? It was either a crocodile or a shark.'
His daughter was of course, "awestruck" by the experience, along with the other passengers. He said, 'So were the rest of the people including the guide; he had never seen it before either and he had been there for about 30 years. He was so excited.'
Crocodile attacks shark incident is Paice's favourite experience amongst all others he encountered during a four-month-stay in Australia with his partner and daughter. Paice had taken 6,500 photos already but he said, 'It's going to be a bit hard to top this one.'
