The Indiana Pacers are reportedly pushing hard to work on a trade with the Phoenix Suns for reigning Most Improved Player of the Year Goran Dragic, a source close to situation reported on Tuesday.
ESPN NBA insider Marc Stein reported the Pacers are still hoping they can acquire Dragic in the wake of Paul George's gruesome leg injury. The Suns, who drafted Tyler Ennis and Isaiah Thomas, have been firm in their stance to keep point guard Eric Bledsoe despite their contract impasse.
"Marc Stein, the Pacers are looking hard at a Dragic trade this summer to help upgrade at the point guard position and they feel a deal can get done since Phoenix drafted Tyler Ennis and signed Isaiah Thomas," according to Sports World Report.
"ESPN.com is reporting that the Suns have signed Thomas to a sign and trade deal from the Kings and now the team has a number of solid point guards on the roster and that could make Dragic expendable"
Pro Basketball Talk reported the Suns were not interested at all to trade Dragic, though it was reported before they made a sign-and-trade deal with the Sacramento Kings for the service of another guard - Isaiah Thomas.
Meanwhile, Roy Hibbert has been on the trading block since his epic collapse last season, which saw him among the favourites for the Defensive Player of the Year early in their campaign to an unproductive big man weeks before the start of the postseason.
Reports indicated the Pacers are silently gauging the market if there's interest for Hibbert, and so far the Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets emerge as possible destinations.
However, Sports World Report claimed the Suns could also make a gamble on Hibbert, as they look to fortify their frontline after missing out on Pau Gasol this free-agency period and having young big man Alex Len crippled with injuries.
"Pro Basketball Talk and ESPN.com are reporting that Hibbert is being shopped this offseason and while a trade is no guarantee, the Suns could be an option," via Sports World Report.
"The team has Alex Len dealing with an injury and after their interest in Gasol, Hibbert could be a target if the Suns are willing to give up Dragic, who has a team friendly $7 million deal this year and just won most improved player in the league."
Potential Trade
The Pacers could send a package consists of Hibbert, Chris Copeland and draft picks to Phoenix for Dragic, who averaged 20.3 points, 5.9 assists and 3.2 rebounds last season.
Though the deal would entirely depend on the Suns' willingness to part ways with Dragic, it's very interesting to see how the Pacers would rebuild themselves after seeing George injured and Stephenson traded this summer.
