Pakistani group of people reportedly killed women consisting an older one along with her younger granddaughters on Sunday in the city of Gujranwala over Facebook issues as it was believed that they have made a blasphemous post.
Along with her seven-year old granddaughter and her baby sister, the three of them died after their home has been one of those who have been set into fire when a riot suddenly erupted in their village. Police officials said that the cause of their death has been due to suffocation. According to the reports, a riot started when rumors began to spread when an Ahmadi person has been sharing a blasphemous photo in the said social media site.
Pakistani protesters soon began gathering and protesting outside the home of the Ahmadi person identified as Saqib. It has been said that the women has been killed after a blasphemous picture on Facebook has been shared. The photo involved the Kaaba which contained nudity. Muslims actually considered Kaaba as holy which is placed at the centre of the Grand Mosque in Mecca that Muslims face in prayer.
Blasphemy is a great sin in the area as those convicted individuals usually receive life sentence and even death penalty. The Pakistani mob then set houses on fire killing the women while it also injured several others. A youth who has been said who originally made the Facebook post was not injured during the attack.
The woman's group, Ahmadi has been long persecuted by the Islamic extremists along with Christians and Hindu and Sikhs. It has been also said that they are banned from using Muslim greetings, saying Muslim prayers or referring to their places of worship as a mosque.
Sunday's attack by the Pakistani mob killing the women is said to be not the first time in the Ahmadi community. In May, two have been also killed, but the recent event is said to be the worst.
