"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 teaser for the first full trailer has been revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, Jul. 26, to the delight of the novel and the film's fans. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 first full and official trailer was in the meantime released the following night, Sunday. In it, fans will see the old cast returning, with some new cast introduced including "Game of Thrones" star Natalie Dormer, playing the character Cressida.
Before this "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 first trailer, fans were already treated to a series of teaser trailers showing President Snow, played by Donald Sutherland, making a speech. He is dismayed as his mid-propaganda dialogue is abruptly interrupted by District 13 and threatening him that the Mockingjay is back.
If that teaser said that Katniss was back, then this official trailer of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 shows that the beloved female protagonist is truly in it for the long haul, although she was barely seen in the trailer.
The teaser for the first official trailer of the "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 debuted at the Comic Con 2014. In it, Katniss Everdeen, Gale, Alma Coin, Plutarch Heavensbee and other much-loved characters appeared.
"Mockingjay - Part 1" takes place during the aftermath of "Catching Fire", and this time, Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, is facing a "burgeoning rebellion" against the power-hungry President Snow, says Yahoo News.
Spanning a total of one minute, the trailer did not show Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Johanna (Jena Malone), Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) and Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Katniss barely spoke at all.
Still, Buzzfeed is convinced that the first trailer for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 has still managed to beguile viewers with its dark and tense tone, providing some glimpse at the fallout of the events of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 teaser trailer for the full one debuted during the San Diego Comic-Con's special preview. According to Buzzfeed though, the tease was only part of a promotional tie-in with Samsung, and fans were only treated to the teaser after waiting in line and walking through a special "Mockingjay" gazebo. The "Mockingjay" gazebo is a feast for the eyes, complete with a holographic Peeta and Johanna's rotating living portraits.
After waiting, fans were reportedly guided into an extraordinarily white room. Fans are then led inside and given a Samsung tablet after being seated in a spherical pod. They are then invited to watch the "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 tease with headphones.
Although intricate, the experience was reportedly impressive first hand, which was opposite the actual trailer for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1.
The first full trailer for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 opens with an exchange between Plutarch Heavensbee, played by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman and President Coin played by Julian Moore. The two appears to be debating upon Katniss' capabilities to lead the resistance against the Capitol and whether she is ready to be the symbol for the rebellion.
Plutarch, who served as the head gamemaker for the Hunger Games in "Catching Fire" declared, 'No else can do this but her.'
And he is right. Though Katniss' face is barely seen in the "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 trailer, people are moved as she toured a makeshift hospital in war-torn District 8.
Following events from "The Hunger Games" and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire", "Mockingjay" follows the poorer districts of Panem rearing up for rebellion. District 13, the rebel base is currently under the leadership of Coin.
Katniss in the meantime is still trying to recover from her tribulation and is coming to terms with her part in the rebellion.
In the "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 trailer, "Game of Thrones" star Natalie Dormer is shown playing Cressida, one who's tasked with the role of documenting Katniss' life. Gale played by Liam Hemsworth is also shown.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 trailer ends as a bloodied and young boy from District 8 asks Katniss if she is ready to join the fight against the capitol.
He asks, 'Are you fighting, Katniss? Are you hear to fight with us?'
Katniss answers with only four words. 'I am,' she says. 'I will.'
She answers the question and seems to be finally accepting her role as the symbol of hope and freedom for Panem's oppressed, albeit looking a little unnerved.
The movie will revolve largely around Katniss, who slowly gets out of a bout of post-traumatic stress disorder. The main cast members from the first two instalments return, along with "Catching Fire" director Francis Lawrence.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" - Part 1 trailer was released Sunday, and the film's release is set on Nov. 21, 2014, reports Hollywood Life. The second part is set to show the following year.
