World Cup Trophy Damaged: €10 Million Fifa Trophy Replica Given To Germany Team, Damaged Football Star

World Cup trophy damaged news just in. According to sports website Goal, Wolfgang Niersbach, president of DFB (Germany's national soccer federation), has recently admitted to the news of World Cup trophy damaged.

Niersbach said that the World Cup trophy presented to them this summer by Fifa apparently had not survived the team's victory celebrations in one piece.

Germany recently won the top place of the soccer world tournament by winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup. However, it seems that their victory parties might have gone a little over the top.

ESPN reports that somebody from Germany's team had the World Cup trophy damaged during their days-long celebrations following last Sunday's victory in Brazil.

Niersbach, chief of Germany's football association DFB has revealed the story of the World Cup trophy damaged. According to Goal, DFB president Niersbach made the revelation in Die Welt. He reportedly told Die Welt that a piece of the FIFA trophy which was given to Germany got 'chipped off' last week. Niersbach added, 'At one point, a small piece of our World Cup trophy was chipped off.'

Goal said that the Germany squad were welcomed home from Brazil by excited fans. They toured Berlin with the trophy midweek. However, with news of the World Cup trophy damaged, it seems that they have celebrated a little bit too hard. The person from the team who had World Cup trophy damaged has not been identified. Niersbach said however that there is no need to get anxious.

He said to allay fears of concerned fans regarding the World Cup trophy damaged, 'But do not worry! We have specialists on the case who can fix it. We have investigated persistently who it was that damaged the trophy, but the investigation was concluded without a result.'

Apparently, the recent World Cup trophy damaged is not the original and was just a replica of the iconic, solid-gold FIFA World Cup trophy.

According to NESN, soccer's governing body keeps the original trophy.

World Cup trophy damaged might probably made more headlines if the team actually damaged the real one, which was reportedly estimated to cost over €10 million (£8m). It seems that Fifa does not trust football associations with the trophy after the original World Cup award. According to reports, the Jules Rimet trophy had a history of being targeted by thieves. It was stolen back in 1983 from Brazil.
