The Houston Texans are reportedly considering into trading disgruntled wide receiver Andre Johnson, who is currently in a hold out because of contract negotiation dispute with his team.
In an interview with Pro Football Talk, Johnson talked about the possibility of staying away from the team if the Texans don't give him the right deal he wants.
Another reason that is holding Johnson to join the team is his displeasure in working with new head coach Bill O'Brien. The 33-year old wide receiver doesn't want to play for a rebuilding team any longer. The Texans won their first two regular-season games before they went into a freefall, losing 14 straight football games.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com indicated Johnson's desire to play for a contender, but the Texans clearly don't want to lose their best wide receiver.
"Details of divide between Andre Johnson & #Texans is posting on @NFL.com. He told them he wants to play for another team. Houston resisting," Rapoport posted on his Twitter account.
Meanwhile, Johnson made sure everything is under control by keeping all things private - including his alleged request to get shipped - weeks before training camp officially starts.
"I just choose not to talk publicly about it," Johnson said. "It's in-house, and that's the way I choose to keep it. I'm not a big media guy, so I won't ... you know, I refuse to talk about it. Training camp is a few weeks away, so we'll see what happens."
Potential Suitors for Johnson
Johnson, who is entitled to pocket $10 million next season, is drawing interest from multiple teams, some of which are Super Bowl contenders.
Despite a losing record with the Texans last year, Johnson proved he can still be a pretty effective player on the field by recording over 100 catches for 1,400 yards.
The Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns are considered potential suitors for Johnson. The Raiders have the cap space to absorb Johnson's contract and good draft picks to compensate the Texans in the deal. The Browns can also make a run at the wideout, while the Patriots appear to be the best options for Johnson because of their championship core and the presence of one of the best signal-callers in the game: Tom Brady.
