The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly gaining momentum to sign coveted free-agent LeBron James, as the franchise looks to add shooting guard Ray Allen and small forward Mike Miller - two players who are reportedly close to the four-time MVP.
A week ago, Cleveland had a whisker of a chance to get back James' service. However, after a fruitful meeting between the Cavaliers front office and James' representative Rich Paul, it appears James is leaning towards making a Cavaliers return.
In a report on Sheridan Hoops, a source reportedly leaked information about James' plan to return home after spending the last four seasons with the Miami Heat.
"A plugged-in source tells me there is a 90 percent chance that LeBron James will return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and it will be announced on www.lebronjames.com if it happens," via Sheridan Hoops.
"That is my latest intelligence, and it comes from the same league source who told me Monday that he felt there was a 75 percent chance James returns to his original NBA team."
Chris Sheridan provided two factors why James would pick Cavs over the Heat when it's all said and done this free-agency period. First is he has nothing more to accomplish in Heat uniform, having played in the finals for straight times and winning two championships along with two MVPs.
The second is a chance to redeem himself after his 'Decision' in 2010. Playing with the Cavaliers will allow LeBron to mentor his young and talented supporting casts led by Kyrie Irving and take them to the promise land - the first championship in Cleveland sports history since 1964.
Making the Moves
The Cavs have already made the initial moves to clear up some caps space in case James decided to sign with them. On Wednesday, Jarret Jack was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics. The Cavs gained $21.7 million in salary space from the trade, giving them the flexibility to absorb a mammoth deal that James demands.
Aside from James, the Cavs are also eyeing Allen and Miller - two sharpshooters who have close relationship with LeBron during their tenure with the Heat.
