Ronda Rousey was able to annihilate Alexis Davis at the UFC 175 in only a short span of 16 seconds. However, her victorious smile, which was bound to get bigger and bigger due to her 16-second win, was cut short in Joe Rogan's post-fight interview.
Ronda Rousey was suddenly asked by Rogan, the fight's commentator, if she is amenable to step into the Octagon in just three weeks' time for the UFC 176 to fill in for the cancelled match that was supposed to be between Jose Aldo and Chad Medes. It was supposed to be a featherweight title rematch between the two.
Ronda Rousey, however, was noticeable surprised, if not baffled, with Rogan's question if she was ready to go again in just three weeks. Ronda Rousey was quick to recover from being placed on the hot seat after winning a knockout of the 2nd fastest time in the whole history of UFC. She explained that she would gladly do it if UFC asked her to do so, but she would rather rest and have the knee surgery that was already planned for her.
This stint angered Dana White, UFC President. In fact, he was very furious about Rogan's query, which was highly inappropriate, given the time and place. He blamed the production team that gave the question to the commentator. He said, "I was upset with the truck-telling [Rogan] to tell Ronda that she's going to fight again. That wasn't true. That was some [expletive] that somebody made up back there. It was the biggest idiotic movie in the history of our production team."
Ronda Rousey has already fought three times in only a period of six months. Despite these back-to-back matches, she is actually the subject of speculation as the selected stand-in fighter for the UFC 176 bout scheduled on the 6th of August for Aldo and Medes.
