Robert Downey Jr.'s son is reportedly under the custody of the Los Angeles police. His 20-year-old son was out on bail as he was arrested due to the possession of what the local police believe to be cocaine.
Indio Falconer Downey was taken into custody on the afternoon of Sunday. According to Sgt. Dave Valentine, he was pulled over in West Hollywood, and he was allegedly caught to be in the possession of cocaine and other drug paraphernalia.
There were two other people who were with Downey in the vehicle, but he was the only one who was arrested. He was placed on a bail worth $10,250, which was paid for shortly after 9 p.m. He was immediately released as soon as bail payment was completed. A court date for the young Downey has been scheduled for the 29th of August.
Downey made his first movie appearance in a 2005 film entitled, "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," a movie that Robert Downey Jr. also starred in. Robert Downey Jr. himself had a battle with drug addiction for nearly five years. He made the decision to clean up his act in 2001, after he was arrested for drug-related causes several times.
Robert Downey Jr. has opted to avoid rehashing his past drug addiction, but he did mention a few hints about it as he released a statement to TMZ regarding the recent arrest of his son. Robert Downey Jr. said in his statement, "Unfortunately, there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being. We're grateful to the Sheriff's department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."
