Mysterious Creature Bronx [VIDEO]: Identified, Fishers Of Weasel Family To Rid New York Of Rats?

Mysterious creature Bronx is no longer a mystery as the creature has been identified as a fisher, member of the weasel family. The fisher which previously was the mysterious creature Bronx is a furry creature sighted amongst the streets of New York for several months now. According to reports, there is nothing to worry about as the mysterious creature Bronx only preys on rats and squirrels and is not harmful to humans.

Spotted wandering one neighborhood in the Bronx for months, the once mysterious creature Bronx finally has a name.

As it turns out, the mysterious creature Bronx was a male fisher. The fisher or fisher cat is reportedly a member of the weasel family and this is the first time the former mysterious creature Bronx has ever been documented in the city, reports the Associated Press.

According to CBS Local, the first fisher sighting occurred on Hennessy Place in April. NYPD Officer Derek Lenart was able to take a snapshot of the mysterious creature Bronx. What was thought a rare sighting of the mysterious creature Bronx turned quite ordinary as another sighting happened a few weeks before.

Nobody had no idea what the mysterious creature Bronx was until zoologist Roland Kays of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences identified it. Kays told WCBS-TV that the mysterious creature Bronx, a short-legged and furry-tailed fisher, could possibly have come from the river.

Kays said, 'I'm guessing maybe he came down the river, kind of connecting up some of the natural areas, and then kind of took this side trip off into the Bronx. They're very good at sneaking around.' He added that the fisher, the mysterious creature Bronx, were naturally thought to live upstate and in the Adirondacks.

ABC News reports that fishers are active during the day however, they turn nocturnal when around humans.

According to zoologists, the mysterious creature Bronx was probably looking for a place to hide when it was snapped on camera.

Humans may not be used to seeing fishers around town, but New Yorkers should feel thankful. The once mysterious creature Bronx, the fisher, may just solve any type of rat problem in the city as the creatures prey on rats and squirrels to survive.

While not a threat to humans, Kays said small pet owners should be mindful. He said, 'This is really an evolution of the animals. They're adapting to the urban environment. They're learning how to cross roads. They're learning how to survive right underneath our noses.'

According to CBS Local, the mysterious creature Bronx reportedly scared people in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx during the day. Some even thought the fisher was a skunk when it was not.

New Yorker Patrick Watson said, 'One night, I was out putting out garbage and I saw it running across, and I was like, 'Wow what is that?''

The mysterious creature Bronx, a fisher, has reportedly never before been recorded in NYC.

Kays wrote in a blog post that fishers were first found in Manhattan as the island was settled. However, they vanished due to the fur trade. This reportedly pushed them north and into the Adirondacks. In the 1930s, fisher trapping was banned and today the furry creatures' population is booming in the Northeast since a trapping season has also been reinstated.

Mysterious creature Bronx, a fisher, is a species which first repopulated rural and wild forests. They eventually spread and colonized forests in the suburbs of Albany and other upstate suburban areas 10 years ago, said Kays.
