Passengers on a RyanAir trip had a horrifying trip when an Irish family on the way home from a wake downed cans of Guinness, urinated on the floor and fell into passengers.
An Irish family downed cans of Guinness, urinated on the floor and fell into as passenger on the return flight from a wake in Dublin on March 13, the Daily Mail reports.
The McDonagh family was on a Ryanair flight from Dublin to London Stansted when the chaos began. Michael McDonagh and his family had snuck several cans of Guinness on board. The flight attendants tried to confiscate some. McDonagh and ten of his relatives were in "high spirits" in the departure lounge and caused problems for those around them including staff and passengers. One member of the family fell onto another passenger when he decided to run down the aisle of the full plane. Another member tried to use the toilet but wound up urinating all over the floor.
According to Prosecutor Penny Ferguson, "The defendant and a number of his family members were on a Ryanair flight to London (Stansted) which landed at around 6pm. There were a number of problems due to noisy behaviour. The group refused to stay seated and got up, were singing and drinking cans of Guinness. They were causing a nuisance."
They were causing such a scene that the pilot ordered everyone on the plane to fasten their seatbelts. Michael McDonagh stood up and shouted before running quickly down the aisle and hitting a female passenger and injuring her.
"On the day of the offence Mr McDonagh and a number of family members were making their way back to the UK from Dublin where they had attended the funeral of a very young child of a cousin. The party was boisterous but not aggressive," Kalsoom Shah, defending, said. "Mr McDonagh states that although he had a number of drinks he recalls what happened and accepts that due to his actions the complainant received an injury. He didn't behave in an aggressive or violent manner and he is remorseful for the injury caused."
McDonagh has admitted to having a drinking problem. He previously pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering an aircraft or person in an aircraft. He was sentenced to a 12-month supervision order, six-moth alcohol treatment order and had to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge.
