Best and Worst Jobs in the World of Travel

Marked as one of the worst jobs on Careercast.com's best to worst jobs of 2014, the flight attendant does not seem to be a desirable job in the least. With a shrinking job market, large amounts of stress, and a low pay grade the job is not deeply enjoyed. However there are jobs in the travel industry that are very enjoyable, just as there are jobs that may be worse than a flight attendant.

Worst

Flight Attendant

Like being a waiter of the sky. You'll be stuck in a small tube with several hundred other people for a few hours at least. If they get angry with one another, are disappointed at the delays you've had, or unhappy that they couldn't get the food they wanted, they'll all come complaining to you.

Cruise Ship Mortician

Ever wonder what might happen if a person dies while on a cruise ship? Well look no further than where you are as all cruise ships are outfitted with a mortuary that can hold several bodies. When the ship comes into their next port the bodies are discreetly taken away and the passengers are, hopefully, none the wiser.

Lifeguard on Jeorse Park Beach

Being a life guard isn't all sunshine and bikini's, in certain places the job requires you to keep people out of the water. This is never more obvious than when working at Jeorse Park Beach on Lake Michigan. For any number of reasons the water form this area is filled with types of pollution and algae that is harmful to people. Working this dirty and diseased beach does not lend itself to many fun times.

Best

Pilot

Imagine having the skills to go anywhere in the world, and then people paying you to take them to these wonderful places. If you don't work for an airline than there are positions open to act as personal pilots for the rich and famous, or even just to take folks on tours of famous parks.

Guidebook Writer

There is no better way to write about something than by actually doing it. These kinds of jobs are often taken as freelancing positions, but if you're able to find someone to pay you to do this for a living than you've got it made. If you play your cards right there is also potential to see behind the scenes or the best of whatever location you'll be writing about.

Superyacht Employee

Like the personal pilot, but for longer tours and better living arrangements. These fine people are tasked with making sure the yacht is running smoothly and on schedule. The owners of the yachts do have a say in how enjoyable the job may be, if they're rude and unfriendly expect to have a less than stellar time. If you love the sea and enjoying visiting warm tropical islands than this might be the job for you.
