Chris Brown nearly sealed a deal that could have helped him keep himself out of jail. According to the AP, the rapper and the lawyers who were involved in the case were very close to agreeing on a plea deal, but the agreement was not sealed. Brown's case was about his alleged assault outside of a hotel in Washington, D.C. in October.
Now that Brown's team of defense lawyers as well as his prosecutors did not reach an agreement on what Brown would say happened during what happened last year, the famous rapper may face jail time.
Brown was reportedly approached by two women at around 4:30 a.m. on the 27th of October. Based on the reports submitted by the local police, these two ladies wanted to have a picture taken with the rapper, right in front of the W Hotel. When two other men wanted to get in on the picture, Brown allegedly used a gay slur before he allegedly punched the alleged victim.
When this alleged incident happened, Brown was on probation for assaulting his then-girlfriend famous singer Rihanna in 2009. If what happened in Washington proves true, it was a sheer violation of his probation. Brown can be imprisoned for up to four years.
According to the AP story, the prosecutors involved in the case said that their team offered Brown's team a deal that required Brown to plead guilty to simple assault and time served. This deal, however, did not come into form since the two opposing teams just could not agree on the actual events of the alleged incident.
Mark Geragos, one of Brown's attorneys said after the hearing, "They wanted him to read from a script that wasn't true."
The trial for Brown's case has already been scheduled for the 8th of September this year.
