Gregg Jarrett, or Gregory Walter Jarrett, was once again at the center of a viral video, but this time, he was at the other end of the news. This police video was leaked to the internet and it showed known Fox News anchor acting belligerently towards a police officer at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. In fact, he was noticeably struggling with the authority figure.
He was placed in a holding cell on the 12th of April after he was obviously highly intoxicated at a restaurant within the airport's premises. He is shown acting abusively towards the medics when a cop intervenes. The cop pushes him up against a wall and forces him down on his knees, with his face press against the flat portion of a bench. The officer then tells Jarrett to stop resisting arrest and cuffs both of his hands behind his back.
The 59-year-old news anchor is charged with interfering with a peace officer. The arrest occurred at the Northern Lights Grill restaurant shortly after noon. The spokesperson of the airport, Patrick Hogan, said in a statement that the officers reported how Jarrett was acting like he was drunk and that he was stubbornly refusing to follow orders.
According to the submitted police report, Jarrett had just been released from a particular treatment facility as a prescription drug was found inside one of his pockets. Based on other online reports, the drugs were Gabapentin pills, which are usually prescribed for the treatment of seizure disorders among other illnesses. Side effects of this medication include loss of coordination, drowsiness, and dizziness.
After he was arrested, Fox News, being the news channel that it is, immediately got wind of the incident and was quick in releasing a statement that said Jarrett "is dealing with serious personal issues at this time." To this date, Jarrett's lawyer and the spokesperson of Fox News have not returned any messages to the media since Wednesday morning.
