Katie Couric surely did have a great weekend as she and her long time fiancé finally weds in an intimate ceremony on Saturday in her home at East Hampton, New York.
It's already been 16 years after the television journalist tied another knot on Saturday with financier John Molner. The ceremony was attended with a crowd of 50 people which consists of the couple's close friends and family members. The TV personality was actually vocal to have a low key wedding to Molner since it is no longer her first.
The nuptial which took place on Saturday at the backyard of the journalist's home was also attended by her two daughters from her previous marriage. Before Katie Couric said "I do" to her fiancé, she was first actually married to Jay Monahan on 1989 until his death on 1998. Monahan had two kids with Couric before he died of colon cancer.
After the journalist's first husband died, she eventually influenced many other people as she campaigned for raising the awareness regarding colon cancer. She also took part in raising awareness about breast cancer in 2005 by broadcasting her own mammogram on the Today show. Aside from that, she also campaigned for awareness of Parkinson's disease in which her father died of complications from the said disease.
The 57 year-old TV icon was definitely happy as she shared her wedding photo as the new Mrs. Molner via her Twitter account just before any other could spread the photo. Katie Couric has never been this happy as she once again found love in her fiancé's arms. The couple who tied the knot in the weekend was actually engaged last year after two years of dating.
Couric's daughter Ellie and Carrie featured readings and music at the wedding while Molner's nieces and nephews served as flower girls and ring bearers. Katie Couric and her fiancé's wedding has been officiated by their friend John Ellis. The bride reportedly wore a ivory Chantilly lace gown by Carmen Mac Valvo.
