Dwayne Johnson, more commonly known as The Rock, opened up that he had suffered from depression three times in his life.
Johnson, 42 years old, shared that he first had his lowest point when he was 18 years old during his years at the University of Miami. He was on a full football scholarship and he had obtained some injuries that changed his life. He said, "I didn't know what it was. I didn't want to do a thing. I didn't want to go anywhere. I was crying constantly. Eventually, you reach a point where you are all cried out."
He was overlooked by the NFL, so Johnson decided to play for the Canadian Football League. Sadly, however, he was suddenly cut from the team, and it was this time that his football career to hit rock bottom. In addition to this problem, he shared that his state of mind started to delve into his personal life. He shared, "The dreams I had, they're dashed. There is no more football. My relationship was crushed. That was my absolute worst time."
According to him, things only started to improve him for him when he found success both as an actor and a pro wrestler. However, despite this, his personal relationships with his ex-wife catapulted him to yet another bout of depression.
He went through a divorce from Dany Garcia in 2008, and he shared, "Once I manned up and became accountable for the mess I was in. That's when it hit me. What kind of a dad does this make me? What kind of a man will I now become? Failing at a marriage and as a husband was a heavy thing, and divorce had that special way of knocking me on my ass."
Johnson will be featured in another action-filled movie based on the mythological figure, Hercules. His movie will be entitled "Hercules" and is set to be released for public viewing on the 25th of July.
