New iMac, Apple's 2014 iMac, has been announced by the company recently. Along with the announcement of the new entry-level addition to the iMac variety of all-in-one desktop computers, Apple's new iMac release date, specs, and price have also been released.
MacRumors reports that it was only last week that rumors spread about Apple launching minor updates to its new iMac line. Today, Apple has unveiled another news, of which the 21.5-inch new iMac price starting at $1,099. This is a huge fall in the price from the previous $1299 price for the entry level iMac.
According to The Independent, the price for the cheapest model for Apple's 2014 new iMac begins at £899 in the UK. In the US, the price for the new iMac starts at $1,099.
The new iMac reportedly offers a screen of 21.5 inches, a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel i5 processor, a RAM with 8GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive and and an Intel HD 5000 Graphics chip. According to MacRumors, customers are also allowed to choose an inclusion of a 1TB hard drive, a 1TB Fusion Drive, or 256GB of flash storage on build to order options for the new iMac. Meanwhile, all other Apple's 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs are still available even with the release of the new iMac.
This cheap price start for the new iMac is a far cry from the Apple's previous cheapest iMac, which was sold for £1,049 or $1,299. For these prices, customers will get more than before with a 2.7GHz processor speed and a 1TB hard drive.
According to reports, it was only in September of last year that the new iMac updates began. Apple reportedly included in the new iMac faster processors, graphics and Wi-Fi as updates. For the design of the new iMac, it wasn't until October of 2012 that it has been changed from its tapered screen.
The Independent reports that the drop of the prices for the new iMac came after similar price cuts to Apple's MacBook Air earlier in the year. Despite these changes in the prices, the Mac mini is still reportedly Apple's cheapest computer, with prices which begin at £499.
MacRumors reports that there are rumors of Apple working on Retina Display-equipped iMacs. However, there is still no specific release date for a Retina iMac.
New iMac of Apple, along with the rest of the range, the prices of which have dropped around £100 to £150, are available for order today on Apple's website here, as well as Apple's retail locations. To view Apple's press release announcing the lower-cost new iMac, click here.
