A high school reunion was supposed to be all about throwback stories and fun, but the event on Saturday at East Peoria went tragic after a shooting incident occurred.
Three victims were identified to be killed in the incident including the suspect himself. Authorities are still unable to determine the exact cause of the killing, but some believe that the shooter did it with a purpose of seeking revenge. Individuals killed in the shooting incident at East Peoria.
Reports say that the tragic killing occurred at around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday at The Fifth Quarter Sports Bar and Pizzeria where the high school reunion took place. According to the people who witnessed the incident, the shooter identified to be James A. Moore rushed into the bar and opened fire, firing one round for each victim. Victims were reportedly pronounced dead after sustaining a fatal shot in the head.
One of the victims was actually the ex-wife of the suspect. Victims of the East Peoria shooting were identified to be Lance E. Griffel, 36, of 1611 W Daytona Drive in Peoria and Lori A. Moore, 33, of 220 E. Maywood St. in Morton. The new couple, L. Moore and Griffel were attending the high school reunion class 1999 when the killing happened.
The victims were shot in the head and were rushed to the local hospital. Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll pronounced the East Peoria shooting victims dead after sustaining fatal gunshot wounds in their heads. The gunman was also killed in the incident after he was shot by an off-duty FBI agent present in the scene.
East Peoria police only identified the agent to be a law enforcement officer but believes that his presence prevented further tragedy. Previous reports say that the woman killed in the shooting actually filed divorce from the suspect in March 2013 and the decision has been finalized on May.
