Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill seem to be spending a lot of their time together lately. After filming "21 Jump Street" and its new sequel "22 Jump Street", these two actors have not been apart. They have been filming for countless hours and they were also not shy with the press. In fact, they had a lot of press appearances.
Tatum told CNN at the premiere showing of "22 Jump Street" that the both of just got lucky. 34-year-old Tatum said, "It doesn't always work out like this. Sometimes you take a movie because you like someone's work, and then you get to work with them and you don't actually enjoy working with them. And we just got really lucky."
The two actors play the roles of former high school enemies who later became friends after they were put together as partners in the police department they were assigned to. The plot of the film is relatively similar with the 80s TV series that had the same title. Just like in the old TV show, Tatum's Jenko and Hill's Schmidt are sent to a certain high school as undercover students in order to catch a drug dealer.
The first movie of the Tatum-Hill tandem "21 Jump Street" was released in 2012, particularly in the month of March. It received a lot of praise and was even regarded as a box office hit. This proved that Tatum can give more than just be a heartthrob.
"21 Jump Street" was a hit film that it did not take long for a sequel, "22 Jump Street" to start its production. By most accounts, the sequel is just as hilariously funny. The movie boasts of a raunchy and daring sense of humor that fans just cannot wait to see again.
Hill said at the premiere of the first film, "For this kind of movie, the friendship translates into what the movies about, which is kind of rad."
