Kelly Clarkson, "American Idol" alumnus, has just recently given birth to her first child. She and her husband Brandon Blackstock have decided to name their baby girl River Rose. Clarkson tweeted on Saturday, June 14, "Our baby girl River Rose Blackstock arrived on June 12th! Thank you for everyone for all of your well wishes! Brandon and I are on cloud 9!! J"
32-year-old Clarkson first made her announcement in November of 2013 that she was pregnant. She tweeted on November 19, "I'm pregnant!!! Brandon and I are so excited! Best early Christmas present ever."
Before she made that Twitter announcement, however, she told Us about how she wanted to have a baby right after she and Blackstock tied the knot. She said during the interview, "More than anything, next I want a baby. Lots of them! My record label is freaking out because all I can talk about now are babies. We're really excited and want to get our family started. I'm 31 and we'd like to do it the natural way. My eggs are not getting any younger! So we're really excited."
Clarkson was quite vocal in saying that she wanted to have a baby girl, and true enough, she got her wish. She said in her tweet on January 20, "We just found out we're having a girl officially! I knew it! Only a girl could cause this much drama with all this vomiting! Ha!"
The "Tie It Up" singer was not as active in the industry as she used to be during her pregnancy. She stayed under wraps for a long time, and the industry was surprised when she revealed a photograph on the 21st of April of her baby bump for the first time in months.
River Rose is the first child of the Blackstock-Clarkson tandem. Blackstock already has a daughter, 11-year-old Savannah and a 7-year old son named Seth, from his previous marriage.
