Kristin Chenoweth from "Broken Arrow" seems to be making a comeback to the Broadway industry. She has been very vocal when it came to expressing her desire to return to Broadway, and now, in the revival of "On the Twentieth Century", she gets exactly that.
Chenoweth, Emmy- and Tony-winning actress, will be returning to the "Great White Way" in February of 2015 as the infamous Hollywood diva Lily Garland. This "madcap musical comedy" has a 1978 setting and will be talking about the goings-on while aboard a highly luxurious train ride from Chicago to New York City. The Roundabout Theater Company did the honors of informing this bit to the media.
Chenoweth, who first came out in "Wicked" as Glinda, won a Tony award for portraying the role of Sally in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." She was last seen on a Broadway musical in "Promises, Promises" of 2010.
In the "Great White Way", she will be co-starring with Golden Globe winner Peter Gallagher, and will be playing the role of his former lover.
According to a report released by the New York Times, Gallagher was last seen on a Broadway show in 2008 for his acting in "The Country Girl". His career in Broadway started to soar when he portrayed Sky Masterson in 1992's rendition of "Guys and Dolls." Moreover, one of the most famous films of Gallagher, to date, was "Sex, Lies and Videotape" and "While You Were Sleeping". He also has a share of TV show castings, particularly in "Covert Affairs" and "The O.C."
John Cullum, an original cast member of the "Twentieth Century", won a Tony award for playing the role of Oscar. This show also won other Tony awards, namely for Best Score, awarded to Cy Coleman, Adolph Green, and Betty Comden, and for Best Book, which, in turn, was awarded to Comden and Green, as well.
The revival will be directed by Scott Ellis, while the choreographer for the play's routines will be Warren Carlyle. It is set to run on a 20-week time frame, which will start on the 12th of February 2015, at the American Airlines Theater.
