Harrison Ford ankle allegedly got injured during the filming of Star Wars 7. Because of Harrison Ford ankle injury, the 71-year-old actor had to be airlifted to a hospital near Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire where the new Star Wars movie is being filmed.
According to The Independent, Harrison Ford ankle was due to a hydraulic door falling on to the actor during filming of Star Wars 7. Harrison Ford ankle was then suspected of being broken due to the accident which happened on the M Stage at the studios. The studios were reportedly close to his character Han Solo's spaceship called the Millennium Falcon.
Harrison Ford ankle resulted in the actor being transported via helicopter to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital. According to the BBC, the hospital has a trauma unit which specializes in fractures, thus reporters speculating that Harrison Ford ankle is indeed broken.
A Police spokesman from Thames Valley said regarding the Harrison Ford ankle incident, "We were called to Pinewood studios at 5.05pm after reports of a 71-year-old man being injured by a door."
Despite Harrison Ford ankle injury taken immediately to the trauma center, it is however unclear as to how long the actor will need to recover. According to a spokesman for the movie "Star Wars: Episode VII", the accident which resulted to Harrison Ford ankle injury will not affect nor delay the film's release. The spokesman said: "Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of 'Star Wars: Episode VII.' He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates."
CNN reports that the spokesman, who also happened to be a Health and Safety Executive, is already making preliminary enquiries into the accident tonight. Reports say that the incident has resulted in the Pinewood being re-checked for safety issues.
Harrison Ford ankle injury during the Star Wars filming is reportedly not the first time that the actor has had an injury while filming a movie. During the shooting of the 1984 movie "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", Ford sustained a back injury which required an operation. The shooting of the film wasn't disrupted however, as director Steven Spielberg hired a British-born stuntman Vic Armstrong to stand in some of the scenes. Armstrong and Ford reportedly looked so much alike that some of the crew members even confused the two.
