It has been announced that Demi Moore will be joining the "Wild Oats" cast. She was last seen in "Very Good Girls" and she is, reportedly, to replace Sarah Jessica Parker in the movie. Other cast members include Judd Hirsch, Shirley MacLaine, and Jessica Lange.
Parker is said to have been replaced only a month after announcing that she was going to do the movie. To date, there is still no definite reason on why she decided to drop it.
MacLaine portrays the role of a widow employed as a retired teacher and gets to experience the high end of living when she receives a life insurance cheque worth $5 million. This cause of the problem that led to all these circumstances was a computer error.
Lange plays the role of her best friend who keeps encouraging her to cash the cheque so that they can escape their small town lives and transfer to the Canary Islands.
"Wild Oats" is the brainchild of Gary Kanew and Claudia Myers, and will be directed by Andy Tennant, whose credits, to date, include other hit romantic comedies, such as Sweet Home Alabama and Hitch. Film producers are Kip Konwiser of the Konwiser Brothers and Blythe Frank of Wild Pictures, while executive producing will be with Stealth Media Group. This project has been with The Weinstein Company for a few years now and it went through a lot of changes to the plot and cast.
MacLaine, after having made her debut in the film industry in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Trouble with Harry" was also seen recently on the big screen for "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" with Ben Stiller. Lange, apart from "Wild Oats" is also set for another movie and is presently filming for "The Gambler."
"Ghost" star Moore, 51 years old, last appeared in 2013 film "Very Good Girls" and was just wrapped up filming for "Forsaken" with Kiefer Sutherland.
