Because of the incident of Waffle House denies waitress $1,000 tip, the Waffle House in question has gone under some scrutiny. According to an ABC 11 and News & Observer report, the customer could not put the alleged $1,500 tip on his credit card bill at the Waffle House in a Raleigh location.

It was around 3:00 a.m. on Mother's Day that a Waffle House waitress named Shania Brown, who also happens to be a single mom of three was given a $1,000 tip by a Good Samaritan at the Waffle House where she was then working on night shift. According to TIME, apart from the $1,000 tip to Brown, another woman was also given a generous tip which amounts to $500. The man gave the tips after allegedly receiving what he thought was exceptional service from Brown, and a friendly disposition from another customer. However, Waffle House denies waitress $1,000 tip after finding out about the tip which was made through credit card.

According to The Charlotte Observer, the patron used his credit card to pay for the bill, as well as the tips for Brown and the other customer. He reportedly wrote the $1,500 on the tip line of the receipt, telling Brown to take $1,000 and pass along the remaining $500 on to the other customer.

Later that night, the manager at Waffle House denies waitress $1,000 tip and informed Brown about it. Waffle House denies waitress $1,000 tip allegedly because the store's policy does not allow its customers to give huge tips through credit card. This policy is in place in case a customer later disputes the charge or wants to refund their tips.

According to a Waffle House spokesperson told as told to News & Observer, the company only allows immense-sized tips if they are left in cash or through a check. Brown, a waitress at the restaurant for over 7 years, said was surprised by the Waffle House denies waitress $1,000 tip, and told WTVD that she felt embarrassed by the incident. She said, "It wouldn't be different if the man landed cash on the table, and the manager had snatched it away and said, 'You can't have it!' It was very humiliating. I've never heard of this. Whether it is $5 or $100, I would've gotten that tip, but because it was that substantial amount, I don't know what the reason is, but it's a just a lot of runaround."

After weeks of discussion with company managers, Brown eventually received the hefty tip from the generous Waffle House patron himself.

The mysterious customer called Brown last week and also returned to the restaurant to give the check. The kind-hearted man told ABC 11 and News & Observer that he is a local businessman and that he wants to remain anonymous after writing Brown a check for her $1,000 tip.

Waffle House denies waitress $1,000 tip, and in the end the waitress still received what she initially deserved. Brown told WTVD that she does not know the man and she is thankful for his kind actions. Everything worked out for good. A News & Observer columnist wrote about the incident saying, "You don't put up roadblocks to charity. You don't make it hard for people to be nice."
