An official statement released by the Portland Police are as follows:
"At 8:07 a.m. this morning, police responded to Reynolds High School on the report of shots fired at the school. Multiple agencies responded and tactical teams are currently evacuating students and staff. The situation is stabilized, the shooter is confirmed deceased. Parents are asked to reunify with their students at the Wood Village Fred Meyer located at NE 223rd and NE Glisan St. All other people are asked to stay away from the area. Hashtag will be using is #RHShooting."
The Reynolds High School shooting is reportedly the first fatal shooting in Oregon since May 1988. During the 1988 shooting, a 15-year-old student killed two fellow students and injured 25 more people. Prior to the shooting, the gunman killed both his parents. He is currently serving an 111-year prison sentence. Meanwhile, with regard to the school lockdown, Portland Police have kept the school on it as they went on evacuating students after the Reynolds High School shooting.
