The 24-year-old may be infamous for breaking hearts and writing songs about them, but she sure is putting her money to good use. Taylor Swift donation of $50,000 is to for The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and according to The Daily Mail, the donation was made by the famous singer in order to help fund therapy tools for children who are cancer sufferers. The charitable Taylor Swift donation will reportedly be utilized for a 'high-tech music therapy' program which will result in a soothed and uplifted disposition of cancer patients at the centre.
Hospital CEO Steven M. Altschuler addressed Taylor Swift donation saying, "Taylor Swift's gift will help lift the spirits of many patients during a difficult time. Taylor Swift's music is an inspiration to so many of our teen patients."
Director Lamia Barakat of the Psychosocial Services Program at the cancer centre, meanwhile said, "We can think of no better way to use her gift than to grow our Adolescent and Young Adult initiative designed to support the emotional well-being of our teens with cancer."
Splash News reports that Taylor Swift donation has been made last year but allocation of the funds has just recently been publicised.
Swift is still going on her Red Tour, which will last until mid-June. The tour includes stops all over the world. For her Thailand stop however, the performer had to cancel the sold-out concert as the country underwent military rule last week in a coup d'etat. The concert in Bangkok was supposed to happen on June 9, however under military rule, Thais will be having nighttime where everyone is required to be inside their homes by 10pm.
BEC-Tero, Swift's concert promoter stated on its website on Tuesday that "due to recent events in Thailand", the concert was cancelled.
The singer has also addressed the cancelation via Twitter saying, "I'm sending my love to the fans in Thailand. I'm so sad about the concert being cancelled."
Aside from Taylor Swift donation, another activity which occupies the star is her upcoming album. The gorgeous singer admitted her excitement over the album in a press conference in China saying, "I've already been working very hard on it and it's already my favourite thing that I've ever created. So the idea that after Asia, I get to go back and finish everything and get everything completely done and completely wrapped up for a new project, it's very exciting."
Taylor Swift donation isn't the only thing patients at CHOP are thankful for. According to Yahoo, the Grammy-winner also visited some patients at the hospital.
