Great mystery is still circling the missing plane from Malaysia with 239 people on board as the search continues.
It is already more than three months since the MH370 jet suddenly disappeared from the radars of the air traffic control and such long amount of time has brought frustration and despair to the family of those people who boarded on the said aircraft. Despite of the amount of time spent for searching the missing Malaysian plane, authorities are still doing all their efforts in trying to locate the whereabouts of the jet. As the government and other countries such as Australia participate in the search operation, resources are also being put in the line as millions were already spent.
The missing Malaysian plane's sudden disappearance in March 8 is now marked as the longest and most expensive in the history of modern aviation. Recent reports say that a total of 27.6 million ringgits or $8.6 million was already spent by the government of Malaysia for its operation in searching for the aircraft. The amount spent does not include the expenses made by other helping countries.
Department of Civil Aviation chief Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said that officials from Malaysia will travel to Australia and China this week to discuss about the missing plane. Investigators from the two countries are currently exchanging notes as they work on the exact location of the aircraft. According to the report made by the Wall Street Journal, sources claimed that investigators are revising some of their assumptions of the location of the aircraft.
As the search area expands to a wider scope, experts say that the expenses for the missing Malaysian plane could reach up to hundreds of millions of dollars. The area has already been extended to 60,000 square kilometers that is being monitored by Chinese vessels. The previous operation relied on satellite images taken and on the pings detected which could possibly come from the MH370's black box.
