Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan is placed in intensive care at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Jersey. His current critical condition is due to a fatal multi-vehicular accident on the New Jersey Turnpike on Saturday early morning, in the north-bound lanes between exits 8 and 7a.
Morgan was seen only last night at the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.
He was reportedly riding the limo bus with six other people when it overturned at around 1 a.m. on the highway. Two passenger cars, two tractor trailers, and an SUV were also involved in the pile-up. Sergeant First Class Gregory Williams, New Jersey State Police spokesperson, told CNN that it is still unclear who was at fault for the accident.
Williams stated, "The limo bus is the only vehicle that overturned." He added, "Looks like one of the tractor trailers may have rear-ended that limo bus, but that's preliminary at this time."
One among the 7 limo bus passengers died that night. The medical conditions of the others who were rushed to the hospital are not revealed at this time.
The NJ Turnpike, a toll road in New Jersey, was closed for over five hours after the crash and was only reopened after 6:30 a.m.
Morgan and his 26-year-old girlfriend Megan Wollover are expecting their child on the 20th of June. Morgan, a resident comedian at New Brunswick's The Stress Factory, was planning to host the baby shower.
Morgan came to fame through the internationally renowned "Saturday Night Live" and later joined co-star Tina Fey at "30 Rock" as Tracy Morgan, taking the show to its blockbuster TV comedy status.
In a recent interview, Morgan talked about his life and love for showbiz and he said, "I enjoy doing show business. I can't pink one genre. I love all of it," Morgan ends his statement with, "If God gives me enough time, I'll do it all."
